Bayonetta Video Review
Sorry it’s been so long since we posted a Vlog, gang. As I mention, we’ve started to broadcast on Ustream, so if you’re hungry for more, that’s the place to go. We have 6 videos saved and we should be adding more in the near future. Since there is no editing, videos are long and crude so be prepared!
Anyway, getting to Bayonetta, I didn’t play much of this title, just a bit of the demo. I did thoroughly enjoy watching Nutgarden5 play it at least for the over-the-top-ness and style. It certainly has carved a name for itself on the Internet, immediately skyrocketing to Devil May Cry and God of War fame — those are some big names to live up to.
I credit that success to the fact that the game is similar enough to the aforementioned titles, but builds on them by adding unique elements. One huge difference is obviously the female protagonist, a welcomed change to a genre dominated by heavy metal culture drenched with testosterone. Combine that with some cool systems such as “witch time” and the ability to move on walls and ceilings and you’ve got a hell of a fun action title.
Obvious complaints at this time are the crippling load times as well as the graphics being somewhat sub-par when not in battle. Hopefully these issues will be addressed if/when Kamiya makes another similar title.

On a sad, unrelated note, a good friend of all of us at Kotowari.org passed away last weekend. He was a hilarious dude who loved games and toys and will be greatly missed. His family and friends have agreed that if anyone wishes to pay their respects (literally), Child’s Play is where he would have wanted any money to go.
We had a rough weekend of drinking, reminiscing, and toasting with bacon, but it will never feel like enough.
