Bioshock 2 Video Review
Yes, April Fool’s day is over — I really did play an FPS title. Two to be exact. The gang over at Bit-Speak demanded I play through both Bioshock titles and, being temporarily between games, I obliged them.
There were parts of the series I appreciated, even being a rather strict RPG fan. It even roused us to create a DVGH on the matter.
I consider myself to be among those who don’t quite believe a sequel to Bioshock was necessary, but still enjoyed it. The updates to combat brought more to the table than the surgically attached story elements. These updates mainly include wielding plasmids and weapons at THE SAME TIME as well as keeping hacking in real-time. Most everything else was about the same.
Bioshock 2 also gave me one of the most memorable experiences from the series: seeing the world through the eyes of a Little Sister, one of the game’s most iconic characters. However shaky the story aspects may have been driving that part of the game, I still appreciate the answer to a question I never really thought to ask.
All in all I would say Bioshock 2 makes a decent accent to the first game, like a wine cooler accenting a fine wine: you don’t really need it, but some people just really want there to be more wine.
