Ports are becoming increasingly common with the current generation of hand-held systems. On the rare occasion when substantial improvements are made to a game for the transition, a port really becomes worth paying attention to.
The above trailer for the Knights in the Nightmare port to the PSP shows some interesting changes to the game visually. While the original game for Nintendo DS featured static dialog art, it seems the PSP port will have animated cut-scenes. I was quite impressed to see that the game’s highly unique aesthetic still carried over into these animated sequences. I really felt like anew dimension was given to the world of the game in this video.
While my interest is perked, I still can’t help but wonder how the complex battle system will handle the transition — controlling the wisp with the analog stick just sounds too clunky!
The image above is of a tentatively titled game for the PS3 called simply Shin Megami Tensei which appeared on Amazon.co.jp this weekend. As you can see the game is for the PS3, which is a first for the series. This is obviously not an official announcement in any way, but it also does not appear to be an error since the Amazon page is still up.
Could an announcement from Atlus be close?
It is also possible that this is one of a number of spin-offs from the SMT series, meaning another Persona or Devil Summoner could also be a reality. Either way this is awesome and I will definitely be on the lookout for more details.
Personally I am hoping for SMT IV, but I can’t say I would be disappointed with another Persona either.
There are few updates on the web that I savor as much when Peachi updates her Livejournal with a new Persona themed comic. On January first, the most recent comic appeared switching from Persona 4 to Persona 3. As you can see, this part of the story centers around Ryoji. For those of you who have not played Persona 3 yet, I strongly recommend saving this comic until AFTER you’ve finished the game — there are some major spoilers within!
Anyway, this comic is a bit short, but surely won’t disappoint any fan of the series. It certainly helped to brighten my day at work! Someone really should be paying her to do this…

Recently, Atlus’s D-Shop updated to includes a few holiday inspired goodies, which combine nicely to help make your holidays a little warmer. If I were financially err… comfortable I would consider purchasing them all but since I am not I will just write about them!
Above is a frosted glass candle holder set featuring Jack Frost’s mug on one side, and a big snowflake on the rear. The set includes two candle holders and 2 lavender scented candles. I image that Jack Frost smells like lavender… You can check out more images of the set here. The price is 1,575 yen, or around $20 USD.

The next items is probably the most appealing to me and also the most expensive. It’s a Jack Frost themed nabe set. Nabe is a Japanese hotpot dish which is actively assembled in a large clay pot (left) usually over an open flame. Diners then ladle out what they want into smaller bowls (right), eat, and the process repeats. It’s a lot of fun, delicious, and really great during the winter!
This awesome set of 2 bowls, spoons, and a clay pot (with lid) all adorned with Jack Frost will run you 5,500 yen or $65 USD. You can check it out here.

Another arguably effective way to warm up is with a glass of distilled spirits! Whether you prefer champagne, mead, or grog — any manner of beverage is more festive in these fluted glasses. The upper portion of the glass features the same snowflake designs on the candle holders. Also, It may be a bit difficult to see but at the bottom there is again a Jack Frost logo.
The set of two flutes glasses costs 3,300 yen, or around $40 USD. As with the others, more images can be found here.
If you want to buy any of these as a gift, or for yourself (greedy bastard) I again recommend Celga since there are no sites which ship directly to the West. You’ll definitely incur a healthy shipping fee with the nabe set since I imagine it’s quite heavy. The others would probably be relatively reasonable.
I didn’t get around to making a post on gift ideas this year, so lets pretend that’s what this is!
Peachi recently updated her LiveJournal to include part 2 of her Persona 4 parody. It is just as hilarious as the first and a must-read for any fan of the game. The comic goes until mid-terms or about halfway through the game, meaning we can (hopefully) expect 2 more comics.
It’s been a painful 3 months since the last comic, but it was well worth the wait!
