I really feel bad constantly writing about such expensive shit. I know times are tough, especially with a long year of must-own games stretching out in front of us… But this Odin figure may be the last piece of Final Fantasy XIII memorabilia this year, with an estimated release of sometime in July. By that time, most of you will have already bought the game and decided if it’s uber-lame or not. Anyway, the going price on Amiami is 15,550 yen which is a discounted price believe it or not. That translates to roughly $170 USD.
Surprisingly enough, I was able to find the figure on Kidnemo for $159.99 which is less than the price in Japan — that is a rarity.

In addition to being able to transform between Odin and Odin’s gestalt mode, the blades can be used by the Play Arts Lightning figure. How is that for cohesion? I assume she can also ride on the gestalt horsey but since I don’t know the joint capabilities of these figures it’s hard to say for sure. A better question may be can Lightning even stand while holding those blades?

If you were reading my coverage of this year’s E3, you may recall this sexy plastic vehicle which was on display at the event. It is the ice elemental Summon for Final Fantasy XIII; The Shiva Sisters in riding/gestalt mode. After much waiting Square Enix has revealed sufficient details to allow retailers to start pre-orders for the figure. With some digging around I have found the bike available both on AmiAmi (~$175 USD) and Kidnemo ($219.99).
The price differences are largely based on shipping options. AmiAmi will have more options which will vary in price, but with KidNemo you have a flat $9.50. Odds are my research is in naught since I doubt many people are in a position to shell out this kinda money on plastic.
Still, look how awesome it is: you can actually transform the bike into the two sisters:

Even if you aren’t a big fan of figures you gotta admit that is impressive! The current release date expectation varies from late March to late April. Either way, if you plan on acquiring these figures, definitely pre-order ASAP!
I think the Shiva Sisters look a little more convincing than their human counterparts, mainly because of the joint issue I discussed earlier. For some reason the obvious joints look more natural on robots…

The immense popularity of the first volume of phone strap accessories from Kingdom Hearts Mobile has enticed Square Enix to release a second set. As with the first set, there are five figures total, each depicted in the simplistic, cute style of Kingdom Hearts Mobile.
The characters include:

Pre-orders of the phone straps has opened on Play-Asia, each costing $9.90. A release date in Japan is set at January of 2010. The bulleted list above contains links to each respective figure.
I purchased the Cloud strap from volume one and I really love it. The functionality and style far outweigh the price, which is somewhat of a rarity when it comes to Square Enix goods.
I am not sure which figure I want the most, but I guess I would have to go with Leon. I am curious to see if Sephiroth fans actually like this depiction of the uber-serious villain. Can any Sephi-lovers let me know if they can get past the cuteness and plan on purchasing a strap?

With Final Fantasy XIII’s Japanese release around the corner, Square Enix has kicked their merchandise campaign for the game into high gear. In addition to a set of figures, they have also released images for a set of Elixir themed after the game. There are two different versions consumers can… well consume, or drink rather. The first would just be the 16 cans pictured here:
The second version, which is considerably more desirable, consists of a random can bundled with a random figure (pictured top). The designs on the bundled cans appear to differ from the standard versions. Up until now the 6th mystery figure was unknown, but this image reveals that it is in fact the internet’s favorite tattooed-lance-wielder, Fang. I can only imagine what these will be going for on eBay…
Play-Asia has started pre-orders for random cans from the standard set divided into two versions for some reason (1 and 2) for $6.90 each. I remember when you could get a soder pop for seventy-five cents… The version bundled with the figure will being pre-orders in the near future.
The standard set goes on sale December 8th in Japan, and the figure version on December 22nd. I have personally never consumed any of the Potions/Elixir I own, but I don’t mind adding a few more to my collection! I think the Fang one, the baby chocobo one are my favorites.

Enter Brain’s ginormous Selvaria figure is as detailed as it is well-endowed. She is equipped with the artefactual lance and shield of her Valkyrian ancestors. The removable lance is supported with a clear pole base, but the shield appears fixed. The right leg and head are poseable to offer some variety in poses. A set of more detailed images highlighting the figure’s features are available on Amiami here.
Kid Nemo is currently offering pre-orders for the figure for $182.99 — ouch. Still, their price is pretty close to the 16,800 yen pricetag in Japan.
Of all the Selvaria figures to date, this one is without a doubt the best. The one mentioned in a previous OMG Toys post had a vacant looking face and the attempt to capture her hair’s translucence failed pretty miserably. If you are a big fan of Selvaria and also have deep pockets this may be a match made in heaven… or valhalla or something.
