Chimera: Brotherhood of the Sack Pokémon 2 — Now With Multiplayer

Starter Silhouettes Do Not Look Promising

Kotowari 2.0 is up and in high-gear – I just wish there was some decent, hard-hitting gaming news to go along with it!  Since there isn’t, I’ll just talk about some of the already well-known developments of the past few days.

The silhouettes of the new starter pokémon for the 5th generation of games (Black and White) have been revealed.  They already seem ridiculous, as I would expect, and a bit familiar, but despite my jaded-ness I am secretly excited to see what they look like.  I am not even going to pretend that if every pokémon in the game looked dumb I wouldn’t buy neither Black nor White, because we all know I will.  We’ll just have to wait until this Sunday when CoroCoro reveals just what we’re looking at,  or until a photo of the spread taken with a cell phone camera surfaces, whichever comes first.

Next, in the ever increasing list of sequels and continuations, is Media Molecule’s announcement of LittleBigPlanet 2 along with an upbeat trailer.  I enjoyed LittleBigPlanet immensely for a short period of time, but since the level customization just wasn’t for me, a huge portion of the game went untouched.  I doubt I will be getting involved in that aspect of the sequel but at least the deeper customizable aspects promise more interesting fan-made content:

I was hoping they would be integrating the weapons system they had initially planned for the first game, at least as an option for the level customization if not used for the main campaign.  I can already see LBG: Fallout 3 and LBG: Modern Warfare II (that doesn’t already exist, does it?).  Either way I am interested to see where the game is going and will more than likely pick it up.

In other news, Gamestop leaked the next Assassin’s Creed title: Brotherhood.  It will be available this Fall and promises some multi-player capabilities.

The story follows Ezio who is now more badass and has a badass following of badasses out to give Rome what for.  In the online, you can select different characters in Ezio’s “brotherhood.”  I expect some real creativity from Ubisoft to successfully integrate a relevant multiplayer aspect to the game while not sacrificing the story.  I already get the feeling that the emphasis of the next title is leaning a little to far in the multiplayer direction, but I will keep an open mind since I enjoyed Assassin’s Creed II so much.  Maybe this will provide the longevity and increased difficulty I desired upon finishing the last game.

I admit I am still not entirely clear if this is a direct continuation or a side project.  The end of ACII seemed to hint that we would finally begin to learn about Desmond somewhat more directly, but maybe that’s something that will never happen.

In personal news everything is set up for me, Sarah, Joel, and occasional contributor Julius to attend E3 this year.  We’ve even managed to get two passes to the Sony presser which is a big first for me and the site so I am pretty excited.  We are planning on live-blogging the event – I don’t anticipate much competition.  I also bugged Nintendo but no word yet.  Just a few more weeks until I will be dead tired from jet-lag, walking, talking, writing and eating free press event food.  :)
