Chimera: Full Disclosure

JAW PRESSURE

Yesterday the video game world was abuzz with talk of Rockstar’s newest release, Red Dead Redemption. It was hard to be at the office, watching through the window of Twitter as friends enjoyed the game and glowing reviews popped up all over the web.  The only thing keeping me from bolting home was a live stream of a baby kiwi.

Once quittin’ time finally came, my commute home was smoother than normal, brightening my spirits.  When I climbed up the stairs of my apartment complex and saw a package waiting for me, the sky opened up.  Red Dead had arrived, courtesy of Rockstar.  Included in the package, which I swiftly tore to bits, was some swag I felt needed to be shared with you guys:

The contents included:

  • T-Shirt, size L
  • Bar of Eradicator soup: “Tough on Blood and Manure”
  • Deck of playing cards
  • Dice with leather holster

While making a killing last night playing poker in Armadillo I noticed the card deck is exactly the same as the one in the game — very nice touch.  I have only played a few hours but am enjoying my time with the game thus far.

In Pokémon news, I noticed this weekend something which I missed in the wake of the announcement of the new starters.  Not only can you now see pokémon ass in battle, but the pokémon move (0:26):

This feels like a feature that probably should have been put into place a lot earlier (Crystal came close and that was Game Boy).  Still, I am excited to see all my favorite pokémon gyrating and bouncing around.

That reminds me, I want to thank everyone who participated in the poll for which Pokémon starter you will be selecting.  I was pleased to see that so many people voted!  It looks like Tsutaaja is the winner, but really whichever one you start with is the winner — even Bidoof.

The last bit of news concerns a brief comment made by Square President Yoichi Wada concerning Final Fantasy Versus XIII.  Apparently at a recent investor meeting Wada said that the company is “looking into” an Xbox 360 version of the game.

He then clarified via Twitter stating that his comment was in no way an official announcement of anything and expressed surprise at the web’s reaction.  A fan of Square Enix would hope that at this point in the game’s development, the company’s President would be able to answer a question as simple as “DUR WAT SYSTEM” concretely and without generating this level of  controversy.

Honestly, I don’t even care about Square’s decisions as a company or the fact that Xbox may get the game; I just don’t want to go through another 1-2 years of listening to people debate the two systems.
