Chimera: New Job
I realize my recent posts have been short and occurring somewhat more sporadically than normal. I confess the reason is that I have become rather rattled during the transition into a new job. I felt a chimera post would be best to cover what has been going on lately. Tom Nook’s exorbitant mortgages aren’t any worse by the way, he’s just who I think of when it comes to getting a job.
It would seem that the visually offensive port of Final Fantasy XIII to the Xbox 360 has proved useful for at least one reason: hacking.
Yes indeed, someone figured out how to manipulate save data to attain some pretty insane numbers. This may be one of the only ways to actually see 999,999 damage… Part of me wishes that with enough effort characters like this were actually feasible, but barring some really cool DLC I doubt that.
Next up was a rumored project by acclaimed game designer Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil fame. The game was said to be a PS3 exclusive, featuring RPG elements, and a post apocalyptic setting. If that doesn’t sound like a recipe for my favorite game ever, than this must be your first visit to my site, welcome.
Sadly the project was confirmed to be an early April fool’s gag. The sad thing is, the little bit of propaganda on the fake game looked a hell of a lot better than most games actually in development…
Bravo to Mikami-san and his crew for getting the first good April fool’s jab on us unsuspecting gamers. I will be in a state of skepticism from now until mid April for anything that sounds remotely too good to be true. I would recommend pursuing the same state of mind.
In terms of what I have been playing (because I know you’re interested), Fragile has most successfully captured my attention. It is a great example of a game with simple mechanics being enhanced by its setting, story, and design. Fragile has brought me to the brink of tears, given me goosebumps, and made me chuckle. Will this be the first Wii game I actually complete? I believe so! Expect a review as soon as possible.
