It’s been a while since the last vlog, huh?  Sorry about that! This one concerns NIS America’s hardcore RPG, Cross Edge.  I don’t know why, but I felt a little out of it for this video–hope it’s not super apparent.

Basically this video echoes much of what I already mentioned in my review, but with some added commentary from NG5 who is also playing the game.  I think for the most part we have the same feelings regarding Cross Edge, although NG5 has devoted more time to it than myself.

The story appears to be the weakest part of the structure that holds the game up, with each other’s load-bearing beam wobbling just a bit.  Most games like this have much more to offer aside from the story, so if you don’t mind this drawback and a steep learning curve you will most likely enjoy the game.

Anyone else out there playing the game have any thoughts?

Great as always. Damn, so many people have died this past month haven’t they?

Like Sophie said, great video as always. Cross Edge is definitely a fun game, but I see it more as fan service than anything else. Nothing really wrong with that, but I don’t think you can expect a cohesive story with so many different characters from so many different video games and backgrounds to have the ability to deliver anything more than fan service. Well, it could work out I guess(Kingdom hearts comes to mind), but it would be rare to see the developers think up anything further than a generic amnesiac hero storyline. Their original idea when they got together was to provide a fan service game for their loyal(and I mean LOYAL) fans, and that’s what they gave us. Not unlike Square-Enix and Disney, who came together to provide a video game that is rich in many different aspects; gameplay, storyline, and characters. And KH definitely serves up it’s fair share of fan service, but they had an interesting storyline to back it all up. I don’t see Cross Edge to be the last endeavor these talented developing studios will get together for. Hopefully they do a better job in all facets of the medium next time.

      ;)
