Disgaea 2 Portable: Ark Ranger
I know I keep talking about the upcoming Japanese Disgaea 2 port to PSP, and I seem to be wanting it a little more with each update. At first I had convinced myself I did not want to tackle another Disgaea title, especially one I have already sufficiently throttled. But unlike other ports NIS makes, it really seems like this title is getting some substantial additions.
Let’s start with the newly added Axel mode, which is the biggest update. The story has been revealed and is classic NIS:
As you may have noticed in the PV video at the top of this post, several features from Disgaea 3 have been imported into the port. These features include Magichange as well as Throw/Receive, two upgrades which make monster class units much less awkward to keep in your party. There also appears to be a new form of Magichange involving 2 monsters. No details have been given on this yet sadly.
Since there are some characters in Disgaea 2 who don’t appear in the 3rd installment, that means there are some brand new Magichange combos to appreciate. As you all should know by now, I have an unhealthy obsession with Asagi. At first I was a bit upset to see that while she is a playable character in Disgaea 2, she has been made into a monster class unit. That was until I saw her Magichange form:
That is one sweet weapon. I can only imagine the awesome Magichange skills that come with it.

Between the quirky new story, and the welcomed updates, Disgaea 2 Portable is looking increasingly more appealing. The game comes out late next month in Japan, so I expect a statement from NIS America very soon!
