Disgaea 2 PSP: Popularity Contest

Gold, Silver, and Bronze

As an added incentive to fans of NIS games, the upcoming port of Disgaea 2 for the PSP will be including DLC characters.  This is a big first for NIS handheld titles.  Anyway, to decide who will be available, NIS held a popularity contest on the Japanese site for the game.  The top 10 characters will become DLC for Disgaea 2, and the results just came in:

  1. Plenair — 103 votes
  2. Eclair (Dark Eclair) — 74 votes
  3. Gig — 73 votes
  4. Pram — 73 votes (Pram and Gig tired for 3rd place)
  5. Ash — 48 votes
  6. Almaz — 41 votes
  7. Marona — 38 votes
  8. Ayame — 27 votes
  9. Kagami — 26 votes
  10. Cornet — 20 votes

I have to say, Japanese NIS fans have some good taste.  I was pleasantly surprised to see both Eclair and Ayame, two awesome characters who seem to be consistently out-shined, reigned victorious.  It seems like NIS will put Laharl, Etna, and Flonne in their games ad nauseum…  I am glad to see they are starting to see what the fans actually want.

If the votes seem rather low, I should mention that there are over 150 choices on the ballot and each voter could only cast one vote.  Not sure if NIS America will be treating us to the same luxury, we will probably just be getting the same characters.  There may be some confusion when we see Ayame for the first time in the West since we sadly never got Jigsaw World.  Still, I would rather have her in a Disgaea title… Although she better be human-type and not monster-type!
