E3 2011: Capcom Unity Q & A Event Hints at More Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter talk begins at 4:44

I fully expected E3 to come to a close without Capcom so much as uttering the words “monster” and “hunter”.  Yesterday, however, I tuned in for Capcom Unity’s Q & A section of their E3 stream on YouTube.  Christian Svensson, the VP of strategic planning and business development, appeared alongside Snow (of Capcom Unity) to address questions from the audience.

I began feverishly demanding information on Monster Hunter.  Hell, I wasn’t asking anything specific, I was just typing “monster hunter” over and over.  This is YouTube, after all — there is no room for eloquence.  A few others joined in, and wouldn’t you know it, Snow asked Svensson what we can expect from the franchise in the West.  His answer was basically as hopeful as we can expect.

He couldn’t directly confirm that anything was headed our way, but he did say there are “things a’ brewing” when it comes to Monster Hunter.  He also stated that “it’s not a matter of if, but when” concerning more titles headed to Western shores.

The most obvious game we can conclude he is alluding to is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and its recently announced HD counterpart.  Perhaps an announcement of the game wasn’t ready for this year’s E3, but is close nonetheless.  This distant yet shining bit of hope is all I need to patiently await what I believe to be an eventual announcement from Capcom.  In the meantime, keep your blades sharp and your bowguns loaded.
