I noticed an increase of visitors trying to get Fallout: New Vegas character creation tips with the game’s release yesterday.  For that reason I am posting one of the character builds I have arranged.  It was designed under the assumption that you can get SPECIAL implants and that each implant requires one endurance point.  At this time, that is the word online but there is no confirmation.  For that reason I can’t be held responsible if down the road that isn’t the case.  Regardless of the high endurance stat, I believe this character is pretty solid.

I designed this build for Nutgarden5, who has dubbed his character Fish Jefferson.  The premise was a melee unit which shines with the shishkebab; NG5′s favorite weapon.  Any melee or unarmed weapon would be deadly in the hands of Mr. Jefferson.  A decent explosive stat means you can sub grenade launcher, fat-man, or other large projectile-based weaponry for when range or crowd control is necessary:

Traits:

• Heavy Handed
• Wild Wasteland (optional but really the only other trait worth considering)

Tag:

• Repair
• Explosives
• Melee

I recommend Cass as a follower with this build.  If you slug down some whiskey with her, that will increase your charisma to help with buying/selling/speech checks.  She will also raise your strength by a point and increase your DT to boot.

This character is all about brute force with the DT to back it up.  The high endurance stat means you could play on hardcore, but it may be difficult with no abilities which help with survival. If you want to boost your explosives abilities to round this character out you could remove some of the melee or DT raising skills and throw in Splash Damage or Spray ‘n Pray.  The best pre-order bonus for this character is Amazon’s which includes an improved machete — a great starter weapon.
