On April 11th and 12th, Square Enix held a special event for the upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete in Ginza. Members of the press, people in the industry and a few lucky bastards who won a raffle were all invited. There, the movie was shown in all its reformatted glory. In attendance were all the usual Square Enix troops: Tetsuya Nomura, Takeshi Nozue, Shinji Hashimoto, etc.
The day before the event, Final Fantasy VII was put into the Playstation Network’s Game Archives for the reasonable price of 1,500 yen, or around 15 bucks. I think that this is definetely a game that deserves to be immortalized in digital form. This would be a great thing for the U.S. Playstation Network since the average price for a used copy of Final Fantasy VII is over fifty freaking dollars online! I am not saying that it’s not worth that much, but it just seems to me like people are taking advantage of bandwagon-jumpers…

You know you want this bitches…
As you may have already guessed, this means it is possible to play Final Fantasy VII on your PSP – legally. It was also announced that the PSP’s analog stick will work with the game, woo. Above, Yohinori Kitase shows a PSP which already has FF7 installed on it. The full game comes in at 1.8 GB, which is not bad at all.
In addition to the announcements and electric pleasure, it’s pretty obvious that Square Enix went all out decorating for the premiere. There was some stuff there that I would do horrible horrible things to acquire:
I totally wanna play with my Final Fantasy VII figures on that scale model of Midgar. I would have them bomb all the reactors!
I am getting really excited to get my copy of Advent Children Complete, but mostly just for the Final Fantasy XIII demo. Maybe all this Square Enix generated hype has something to do with it as well…
