Final Fantasy XIII: Final Trailer
Last night at around 11 EST Square Enix released their fourth and final trailer for Final Fantasy XIII on the game’s official site. It’s about 5 minutes long, and about 50% of that is actually new footage, the rest you’ve probably already seen if you’ve been keeping up on the game. Still, what new info there was is rather exciting.
First up is the appearance of this game’s infamous air-traffic controller, Cid:
I am happy with this Cid, he seems like a cool guy. When I first saw him he reminded me a bit of the supposed male character Fang was based on. I am guessing the background in this part is his airship which we know nothing about. He appears to have a right-hand-man, although no information is available on him:
I like his jacket though. Cosplay anyone?
In terms of other info, Fang seems to gruffly address the issue with her tattoo which doesn’t really resemble the tattoos of the other main characters. Hers appears to be layered, with a white-ish symbol on top. She mentions that she is half l’Cie, suggesting there is more to her than we currently know. I am sure it has something to do with a cripplingly sad background story.
Next up is a topic of some debate among fans: Vanille’s summon. It appears to be a multi-armed creature which transforms into an enormous ride-on turret monster:
The attacks I see available in Gestalt/Driving mode (which may help solve the riddle) are: Gatling Canon, Tetra Missile, Penetrate Ray, Buster/Bastard Force, and Gaia Salvo. The appearance of a Gaia attack makes me think of Titan, but I am leaning toward it being a completely new summon since that thing looks nothing like Titan.
I’m surprised Square Enix hasn’t revealed this Eidolon by now. With this being the last trailer, and the Japanese release date so close, I think official information will creep to a halt. Luckily these is still a substantial Japanese fan-base I can sponge off of!
Lastly, best part of any trailer ever:
