Fragile’s battle system is one of the elements of the game which is still somewhat of a mystery to me. Today some details were revealed about the different weapons Seto can wield. While this doesn’t clear everything up, it is still rather interesting. Here are the available weapons and their attributes:
- Rod System
- Branch and Golf Club
- Allows for a string of quick blows to be executed, the last blow in the combo is very powerful.
- Hammer System
- Hatchet and Axe
- With a hammer type weapon Seto is able to charge up power to perform a more powerful attack. The powered up attack also knocks back enemies in the area.
- Spear System
- Laundry Pole
- Spear type weapons provide maximum melee range. Like the hammer type weapon, Seto can charge for a more powerful attack. The powered up attack hits enemies in a large area.
- Archery System
- Bow and Arrow
- When using the bow and arrow Seto can hit units from afar. It is possible to go into a POV aiming mode. The archery system does not allow Seto to be equipped with the flashlight if he also has a bow equipped.

So the battle system is more like a traditional adventure hack’n’slash type? I like how the weapons are pretty much random everyday objects you can find anywhere. Gotta make due with what you can find in a post-apocalyptic world right?
Yea I probably should have mentioned that it seems like hack’n’slash. The creators said they wanted the transition into combat to be “seamless”.
I like the realistic aspect of making do as well. I think the laundry pole is a pretty hilarious weapon.
