Here is some gameplay footage of Marvelous Entertainment’s bizarre title for the PSP. The video is 13 seconds long and spans about 6 seconds of game “time.” If that doesn’t make sense, you may recall that the entire game takes place in just 30 seconds. There are 4 different stories the player can choose, each with their own main character, goal and play style.
Here are the different stories I know about:
 |
- Hero 30
- Play style = RPG
- Goal = Defeat the Demon King before he can finish casting a powerful spell.
|
 |
- Princess 30
- Play style = Shooter
- Goal = Cure the king’s sickness by gathering ingredients for medicine.
|
 |
- Demon King 30
- Play style = RTS
- Goal = Currently unknown

Up until today I had no idea how it was possible to beat a game in just 30 seconds. I now know that there is a system which allows the player to turn back time. This is done by appeasing the Goddess of Time. How you ask?

“Take out your money and I will turn back time “Give and take” is the
first step to human relationships.”
That’s right: cold hard cash. The ultimate inspiration for anything, even for the gods I suppose. In the short video up top, the Goddess of Time is speaking at the bottom of the screen throughout the battle. She says things like “Tick tock, tick tock” and “Hurry!” What a jerk.
Hero 30 looks like it’s 4 different games in one, each made up of a series of mini-stages. I really like that each character’s play style is different. This may actually keep me interested long enough to clear each character’s story. I get the feeling this will be a real gem for PSP owners.
*UPDATE* Here is a bizarre mini-game on Hero 30’s main site where you see how good you are at counting 30 seconds. Good practice I suppose.
