Not long ago, rumors of a Persona 3 film adaptation began swirling among MegaTen fans. The rumors were spurred by a teaser appearing at the end of the 90 minute Persona 4 film (PERSONA4 the Animation-the Factor of Hope) based on the recently released anime in Japan. Well, it turns out the rumors were true: today an official site for Persona 3 the Movie launched along with a Twitter account. Oh, Atlus fans just love dissecting a good teaser…
Based on the image on the official site I would assume that Persona 3 the Movie will be animated — not live action. I would say that’s a given if it weren’t for the fact that the Persona 4 live-action play is a real thing. No word yet regarding the protagonist’s female counterpart, though the red “M” seems as thought it could be referencing this. She is normally associated with warmer colors such as reds and pinks, while the male protagonist is associated with deep shades of blue. I love her design so I really hope she’ll at least get a nod at some point in the film.
Oh, and a quick PSA: (nearly) all Atlus titles on the US PSN are on sale as of today until July 31. It’s especially worth noting that Persona 3 Portable is a mere $9.99 which is a darn steal! Grab it while you can! Read all about it here for a complete list of the games on sale.
I admit I’m not terribly excited about Persona 3 the Movie. Sure, I love the game and am happy to see the story being explored further, yet I feel I’m right on the brink of Persona fatigue, which is dangerous. I hope Atlus moves forward with the series is a meaningful way soon, rather than continuing to capitalize off its success, no matter how well deserved.
