Konami: Metal Gear Teaser: Cloud-stache
This may be a bit slowpoke, but we all knew I was gonna have to mention this damn teaser image from Konami. There are theories all over the Internet as to what the image shows and what it means. When I first saw it, my mind saw Old Snake, which is one of the few things I think everyone is agreeing on.
Exactly what is going on to the left of Snake’s head is under debate, since it’s difficult to distinguish. I guess the most prevalent belief is that it is one or two hands holding a controller. Honestly, I don’t fucking see it. I even tried shrinking the image, changing it to grayscale, playing with contrast, and rotating it.
To me it looks like there is a hand on Snake’s head in the upper right corner. Also, it appears that another is like… strangling him on the left. Here is what I mean:
You may notice however, that there are two left hands if this scenario is correct…
When it comes to the significance of the clouds, it could mean that Snake has “gone to the heavens,” since the two are generally associated (LION KING FTW). Snake’s seeming complacency at possibly being strangled could be because he is dead, and his hand folded on his chest would also suggest his body has been laid out to rest.
The last bit of imagery has already been mentioned I believe: there appear to be two figures standing in the field in the distance:
My first thought was when Naked Snake and The Boss dueled in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It also took place in a field (albeit a much more vibrant one), but again the imagery doesn’t match in this case.
If it’s true that Snake is dead, they may be the souls of other deceased characters, possibly The Boss and The Sorrow? So are these like the Elysian Fields? Maybe I am just thinking too much.
Anyway, as the image states, come May 18th the teaser site may give us some answers. If this is anything like the last Konami teaser I attempted to solve, I am probably way off. To conclude, here is my favorite of the many theories I have seen so far:
