La Pucelle: Ragnorok Coming to PSP
Yesterday NIS announced that La Pucelle will be receiving a port to the PSP dubbed La Pucelle: Ragnorok. An official site for the game was launched which already has a decent amount of content. The game features a new scenario and some minor improvements.
The new scenario is entitled “Devil King Prier”. From what I have gathered from the game’s promotional movie, it appears the Prier we’re familiar with in the Disgaea series will meet up with herself at 16 years old during the events of La Pucelle — sounds like a recipe for large-breasted shenanigans.
The game’s system is said to be improved as well since the PS2 version. The improvements include:
Personally I was hoping for more options when it comes to leveling items, but at this time there is no word on that. I found the purification system rather cumbersome and would kill for an item world.
Back in 2004 Mastiff brought La Pucelle: Tactics over for the PS2. The game was initially released in Japan around two years prior to that, but the resounding success of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness in North America attracted attention to other Nippon Ichi titles.
I purchased the game in the summer of 2004 right after my hands stopped shaking from a problematic addiction to Disgaea. While La Pucelle was very different in a number of ways, I still really enjoyed its unique tactical game-play and dramatic story. If you’ve never played the game on the PS2, this is an exciting second chance to play an important game in the history of SRPGs.
