So I beat Metal Gear Soild 4: Guns of the Patriots last week. Overall I am happy with the experience. There were twists, turns, and just about every character from the Solid series made a welcomed appearance.

First, I would not recommend Metal Gear Solid 4 to those who wish to jump on the proverbial band-wagon. The game is definitely for those who have played the previous titles and are very familiar with the characters and events that filled them. If you haven’t played the other games, I recommend either doing so, or spending some quality time with the Metal Gear Database which can be downloaded for free on Playstation Online.

The different styles of play really made the title interesting to me. The player won’t spend the entire game running around stealthily knocking out enemies and killing bosses. This is of course the main idea, but there will be other forms of combat Old Snake must take part in. There are vehicles, free standing weaponry, and even some film noir gumshoeing just to give a few examples. This helped to keep the game both challenging and interesting.

The game has great replay value. Unique weapons and accessories can be acquired by receiving different code names after completing the game. Currently I am trying to get the game’s trademark stealth armor which requires me to run through the entire game without being seen. Yea, it’s pretty tough, but I am very close!

The soundtrack is one element of the game that really stood out. A game as epic as this needs an equally epic feeling soundtrack, and it succeeds. Again the Chinese blogger rpgmm came through by providing the soundtrack for download. I am linking to where they can be downloaded but I give all credit to rpgmm. Enjoy!
