Muramasa Review Vlog
I decided to sit this video out since I had the least experience with Muramasa: The Demon Blade out of my group. Instead I delegated the task to Nutgarden5 and my trusty maintenance-person Foxes. This is a first for the site since many of you probably only know Foxes from the occasional comment or post. This is also one of our longer videos which I hope doesn’t conflict with any attention spans out there.
We have nothing but good things to say about Muramasa. It’s fun, beautiful, and provides decent replay incentive. It also features some really unique systems such as sword-crafting and cooking. Well, I already gave my two cents, just watch the video! Foxes is also eagerly working on her complete written review so look forward to that.
Possibly the greatest part of the video is when Foxes is breaking down the sword-crafting system. You can watch as NG5 slowly becomes aware that he has no idea what she’s talking about. Once we completed the video we loaded up his file and sure enough he had a massive surplus of Souls (which are used to acquire new blades) and a pitiful number of actual swords. Not only did he clear the entire game without crafting a single new blade, he did it on hard!
I am going to initiate a little contest to see if anyone else can achieve this feat. The first person to send photographic evidence of having more than 70,000 souls and only the swords acquired from boss battles by end-game will receive a free Muramasa drawstring bag from E3 2009. I don’t care if you start with Momohime or Kisuke. Since you can change the difficulty I don’t really have a way that it can be proven that you completed the game on musou, but we roll on the honor system here. Good luck everyone!
We have also decided to start answering questions in our videos, so if you ever want to know anything about us or what we play either DM me on twitter or e-mail me and we will answer the questions in our next video. We tried to get a Q&A going in this video but it failed pretty miserably so I will answer the questions we did receive via this post. Here are the questions and their respective answers:
Answer:
Answer: I would go with an NIS game, probably Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? if you enjoy action games. If it’s an involved RPG you’re looking for then Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is a must have! For old school games I would go with either Final Fantasy VII or Metal Gear Solid. Both are games you really should experience if you haven’t already. If you have, I don’t mean to insult you or anything, I just know nothing about your gaming history. Also, I apologize if any of these games are not yet available on the EU PSN. I know there is sometimes a bit of a wait when a game is localized in the states and then sent to Europe. I think NIS is really pretty good about getting games to Europe ASAP which is one of their many redeeming qualities.
Answer: This is without a doubt Final Fantasy VII. I actually bought a PS1 that included a demo of the game which I must have played about thirty times. The demo only lasted until the first reactor gets destroyed, but it was enough to keep me going until the game finally came out. Once it did it basically defined my youth and adolescence in terms of gaming. Every game after that would be compared to it, and whenever there was nothing better to play, I just played Final Fantasy VII again. I knew it inside and out, yet I was always discovering something new.
Hopefully our next video will have a bunch more questions which we can answer in video form. After all, who wants to read things when you can watch things?
