Sorry for my nerdy sci-fi reference in the title there. (What can I say? I am a Bradbury fan.) Anyway, KidNemo has (perhaps prematurely) put up some new Square-Enix merchandise for pre-order. These items appear to be the ones showcased at DK?3713 back in August, but I am not positive.
Among them is the first plastic representation of a next-gen Final Fantasy character, who also happens to be female: Lightning. That’s two firsts! I can’t really tell a whole lot about the figure’s features, but it does appear to be poseable and includes Lightning’s gunblade. The quality looks very nice – especially the hair and clothes, which are pretty important to her look.
In addition to the Lightning figure, a few characters from Final Fantasy IX are being remade in figure form. Sadly for Quina fans (I know there are a lot), she/he/it is not one of the lucky three. They are Zidane, Garnet, and Vivi:

I like how Zidane’s holster for his daggers appears functional.
These images show the figures in their grayscale form, but I am hoping that they will also appear colorized. Usually you can only find figures that are grayed out like this in gachapon to make it even harder to get the shit you want. Who the fuck wants an all-gray figure? I guess it shows off the craftsmanship or something, but I don’t get it.
At the very least, I am very excited about the Lightning figure. She is shaping up to be one of the coolest female Final Fantasy characters in the history of the series. For this reason alone I would be happy to add her to my collection.
