You may not be able to play Final Fantasy XIII for a good six months, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get started on collecting figures of who you assume will be your favorite characters. Square Enix recently revealed enough information so that retailers can offer pre-orders for their line of Final Fantasy XIII Play Arts figures. You may recall this set is the same one on display at this year’s E3.
The scheduled release date for the figures is December 9th in Japan, meaning these would make one hell of a Christmas/Hanukkah/etc. present for any fan of the series. The going price in Japan is 4,200 yen, or nigh onto $50 USD. Play-Asia is offering them (Lightning, Snow, Vanille) for $49.90, which is surprisingly reasonable for them. Here are some glamor shots:
I believe I have said it before, but I am really impressed by the detail on these figures. I especially appreciate the attention to the character’s weaponry. Lightning’s fully functional sheath and Vanille’s collapsible staff are really cool accessories. My only complaint would be that the visible joints bother me a little. For the most part the sculptors did a decent job hiding them in the folds of clothing, but the joints on naked flesh are pretty obvious.
I wonder when they will be releasing the Sazh figure and the Shiva figure? They were both also on display at E3, but no announcements were made regarding their release. It would be cool if a figure of every summon in drive mode is being released… Imagine how much more money we would throw at Square Enix?
