Persona PSP Opening Movie
Atlus has slapped the opening movie for the PSP port of Persona on the game’s main Japanese website. The opening has a really modern feel both due to the new song by Shoji Meguro and the improved graphics.
The whole thing kinda feels like a really well done Flash video… I really like the use of color and the game’s imagery, like the butterfly which seems to have vanished from the more recent Persona titles. It was also cool seeing some cut-scenes from the Snow Quest Queen which was not included in the original Revelations: Persona.
During this quest, the main character’s high school becomes an icy labyrinth and a teacher possessed by the “Snow Queen.” I am really looking forward to getting to play this quest since it sounds especially creepy. Part of my excitement may come from the fact that I was never able to play this part of the game. It being included feels like some small personal victory over how Japanese games used to be treated during localization.
In other exciting news for Meguro fans, the “Sound” section of the Japanese site is complete, including 12 music clips in total. If you have some time to kill and enjoy game music, be sure to check it out. The new songs remind me of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne’s soundtrack, but with singer Yumi Kawamura thrown into the mix. Persona comes out in Japan on April 29th.
