Phantom Brave Portable Details Emerge

It wasn’t long ago that NIS launched a teaser site for Phantom Brave Portable with no information other than that the site opens tomorrow.  Thankfully some details have been delivered a day early via 4Gamer and Dengeki — that remaining 24 hour wait was just not something I was prepared to suffer through.

It has been confirmed that the scenarios that were included with the Wii version are also being included in Phantom Brave Portable.  This means the player can recruit Raphael, Sprout, and Walnut on their team, along with their unique weapons.

There is also a new scenario which occurs after peace is restored to Ivoire.  Apparently there had been a request for more heroes made to a parallel dimension, but sadly those who replied showed up a bit late.  There are a total of five people late to the party, but we only know of three so far:

  • Z.H.P’s protagonist
  • Red-scarf-wearing-Prinny
  • Zetta (book version)

What the hell is Zetta doing there!?  He must have misunderstood the memo.

As for the two unknown heroes, all we have to go on is a little puzzle-phrase which best translates to:

That thing that’s always with you, or isn’t.

The “thing” part is emphasized, not that that really helps clarify.  I would say Laharl or Etna but I think they are already unlockable in the PS2 version of Phantom Brave so that seems unlikely.  Maybe there will be more information when the official site launches tomorrow, if so you can expect a follow up.

Either way this looks like a port that I am really excited for.  The Wii version of the game, Phantom Brave: We Meet Again, had some awkward controls so I am looking forward to the more simple PSP interface.
