Heart-Gold Soul-Silver

Nintendo and Pokémon have announced that the speculated remake of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver will be made for the Nintendo DS.  The remakes will be called Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver respectively.  Currently, the duo is planned for a release sometime this fall in Japan.

I have already stated before that anyone who says they don’t like Pokémon is lying because they think they are too cool.  I am not one of those individuals: I fucking love Pokémon.

I think Pokémon Gold and Silver may have been my favorite pair in the series.  It could have been because of the interminable wait after the first trio of Pokémon titles, or the crazy amount of shit to do in the games.  My guess is that it is due to the fact that the main character came the closest to looking cool in the game’s history.  He wore a backwards hat.  After this, the character designers slowly became insane until they lost all concept of what “cool” means.  Case in point: Lucas.

Seriously though, in my opinion these titles brought about the greatest changes of any games in the series.  Most of these advances are still used in even the most modern Pokémon games: breeding, shiny pokémon, the splitting of the “Special” stat, having a multi-functioning Pokédex, the time system with day and night, the list goes on.

Nintendo has announced that there will be additions to the game, some of which have never been seen before, even in the 4th generation of games.  I am really looking forward to Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and I anticipate that I will actually purchase a copy.  Oh!  I just remembered Bellsprout Tower.  I love that part…

Definitely my favorite group of games in the series(actually Crystal but it’s pretty much the same thing). I was expecting this ever since all the subtle hints thrown at you in Diamond and Pearl, but still when they announced it I went insane. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. My favorite part was how you were able to backtrack to Kanto after you were finished in Johto, and I was incredibly pissed when they never implemented it again in future games, or at least had it on the same scale GSC did. Hopefully they will expand upon the backtracking of different regions, as well as other things I loved about GSC like the way your in-game mom would help you out by giving you an allowance and buying you random items. I also can’t wait to see how the game will actually look. One of my favorite anticipations for a new Pokemon game is how the sprites for the different Pokemon will look, as well as whatever animation they have and the animation for all the moves. I could go on forever about this. I’m breaking out my old GBC and popping in my copy of Gold tonight.

@Jink I totally loved the backtracking feature too! I must have taken that train ride to Kanto a million times. I also was pissed that in the 3rd and 4th gen games, that was no longer an option. It seems like Gold and Silver gave you the most post-game stuff which is awesome.

@Holiday If I remember right I bought you your copy, and you spent about a year paying me back

I think the others have said enough about how awesome this is. But regardless this made me shed a tear.
I found my old copy of Gold last year, and popped it in for a nostalgia bomb, only to find the internal battery died.
      OMG I can’t wait.

Yea, that happened to my Silver too.
Its sux that when the internal clock goes, so do any saved games. I had also traded all my pokemons from red over to silver as well.
