Resident Evil 5 Demo Review
This may be a bit late, but NG5 and I have been spending some time with the new Resident Evil 5 demo. He absolutely loves it, while I love watching it. We are AVID fans of anything pertaining to zombies and admit we would not mind the coming of a zombie apocalypse. There is something truly exhilarating about fending off hoards of mindless slow moving monsters… at least I imagine.
When it comes to zombie games, Resident Evil is the pinnacle of zombie game achievement (sorry Left For Dead). This particular volume is very visually impressive, in my opinion rivaling even the graphics of Metal Gear Solid 4. As always, there is an element of style that permeates the game. This is generally associated with the lead character and the game’s location which vary with each title.
I wish I knew more, but due to lack of research and the fact that the demo purposely avoids the story this is somewhat difficult. What I do know of the Resident Evil is that they have a large, sweeping, well-thought out story that is completely lost on me.
The main pro of the game that immediately stood out to me is multi-player capabilities. Nothing is better when fighting zombies than having a trusted ally in your foxhole. The system that allows this seems pretty polished. I especially enjoy the ally-aid feature NG5 and I touch on a bit. Basically a mortally wounded ally can be resuscitated by a quick-thinking ally.
This demo definitely succeeds in its task of making me want to (if not purchase the game) see more of it.
