Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 Theories Part II

DISCLAIMER

The following are conclusions I have reached after spending much too much time with the Persona 4 PV DVD included with this weeks Famitsu magazine. I do not intend for any of this to be taken as absolute fact since no one can either confirm nor deny my predictions. With that said, read on:

Murders

Corpse
Detective Work

You may not notice it right away, but there is a dead body wrapped in the power lines in the first screen shot. It can be assumed that the individual fell victim to the murderer who strikes when the weather grows foggy.
There may be a connection between the urban legend of Mayonaka TV, and the fact that the murders occur when it is cloudy. Perhaps the murderer also uses Mayonaka TV as an avenue to reach his next victim. The protagonists uncle, Ryoutarou, is a detective in Inabashi.
Since Inabashi is a rural town, it makes sense that Ryoutarou would work on the case of the bizarre murders occurring in town. This may be how the protagonist and his friends learn about the murderers pattern and attempt to stop him.
Weapons
Daidara Weapons
Oyaji-smith
There are a few scenes in the video featuring the NPC the player buys weapons from. His bright red hair and strange features lead me to believe he is supposed to look like a foreigner. Like most weapons dealers in Persona games, I am sure he has a background story. The options at the first screenshot are as follows:

  • Buy Weapons
  • Buy Armor
  • Buy Accessories
  • Sell
  • Talk
  • Leave

I was hoping the weapon smithing option would be available in Persona 4. I know they are adding it into Persona 3 FES, so it may show up, but with a different NPC perhaps.

Another Character A Matsuri with new character
Who is this…
It appears there may be a third female character who joins the party. At this point absolutely nothing is known about her. It would seem she joins the party late into the game since she is only shown a few times. In the first screenshot she is on Yukiko’s right in a pink kimono. These are the only two times she is shown in the video.

Again I do not attempt to pass any of my theories off as truth. I simply offer them to stir up discussion and encourage the exchange of ideas between fans of the series. If anyone agrees or disagrees, feel free to leave a comment.
