August is a damn good month for toy enthusiasts apparently.  Hope you guys didn’t spend all your money on the last list of toys.

Valkyria Chronicles Figure Collection Gashapon

Price: $3.49

I wrote a lengthy post about this game a while back, and I am still looking forward to playing it. The set includes Alicia, Isara, Rosie, Eleanor plus one secret!  Oh, how I miss gachapon…

Real Action Heroes–Raiden

Price: $XX.XX

This figure is produced by Medicom, and is extremely detailed.  Raiden comes fully equipped with shoulder and face guards, his signature katana, dagger and SOCOM pistol.  All listed weapons also include removable fabric holsters.  The Price for Raiden had not yet been released.

Final Fantasy Miniature Trading Figures Vol. 3

Price: $5.49

Volume three of the set includes Aerith, Tidus, Rikku, Balthier, and Fran.  Sorry I couldn’t get a better picture!  I searched everywhere, but nothing.  If a better picture pops up I will change it for sure.  I would kill for both Balthier and Fran, they are total BFFs.

All of these figures will probably move pretty quickly, so if you’ve got the cash you might want to reserve them now.

Valkyria Chronicles is still pretty popular in Japan, it would suck if these are all sold out by the time we actually get the game.  It is very likely though.

The Raiden figure is possibly the pinnacle of action figure technology, and I am sure he will have a price tag which reflects that.  I doubt this will stop some hardcore fans of the series though.  Although, do people still hate Raiden after Metal Gear Solid 2?  I never had a problem with him.

Lastly, Final Fantasy merch doesn’t linger, especially when it’s so cheap!  Also, this set doesn’t have any rejects, so I would be happy with anyone.

So Play-Asia is getting a nice line of toys in stock this month, and I feel the need to tell my loyal readers so they can get as excited as me. Be forewarned, these figures are not for those who have little discipline when it comes to spending their money. With that said, I should also mention that when these toys are in stock, it may only be for a short period of time. That’s the price we pay for getting toys from across one damn big ocean.

Asuka from Furai No Shiren 3

Price: $79.90

The female member of the trinity that makes up Furai No Shiren 3 has been immortalized into a pretty cool figure. She stands about 20 cm tall, and is more of a statue, so were talking no poseabilty. Her high price tag will probably only attract the most hardcore mystery dungeon fans.

Rozalin from Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories

Price: $59.90

My main reason for posting this Rozalin figure (aside from the fact that it’s cool) is that this price is actually $10.00 cheaper than at NIS’s Rosenqueen store. If you are going to buy it , might as well save some money.

Kingdom Hearts Formation Arts Vol.3

Price: $XX.XX

Volume 3 of the Kingdom Hearts Formation Arts series includes Jack Sparrow, Axel, Minnie Mouse, Ursula, Pete and Sora. If you’re wondering what the deal is with the price, it isn’t currently listed since the figures won’t be in stock until some point later this month.

Personally, I can’t decide which figure I want the most. Asuka is the most expensive, the rarest, and the highest quality.
Rozalin is being released a bit late considering Disgaea 3 is already a few weeks away, but she is still one of the coolest characters in the game (IMO).
…And I can only image how pissed people will be who want to get Jack Sparrow or Axel and get stuck with Ursula or Minnie Mouse.

Elizabeth

This October Alter Co., the same people who produced the Metis figure, are releasing this highly detailed Elizabeth figure. The figure is 1/8 scale, approximately 22 centimeters.

Elizabeth Elizabeth is a mysterious figure who exists in the game’s velvet room, and sends the party on various quests to learn more about the human world. The results are often pretty humorous.

Like most of the Persona 3 figures, Elizabeth doesn’t have many points of articulation, making her more for looks.

I am kind of surprised that Alter decided to release an Elizabeth figure, especially since it seems like the Persona 3 fad is probably dying down a bit in Japan.

If you are a big fan of the series and want to pick up this figure, it is available for pre-order at Play-Asia.com for the price of $69.90 here.

Play Arts Vol. 2

On Saturday Vol.2 of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Play Arts series went on sale at their official online shop. Each figure ranges from 8-9 inches, costs $24.99, and boasts 18 points of articulation. A friend of mine loves nothing more than collecting figures and arranging them in dramatic battle poses, all that articulation should be exciting for anyone with a similar past-time.

Volume 1 featured:

Volume 2 includes:

Yuffie Play Art

The price is extremely reasonable and possibly the best on the web, aside from a lucky eBay snag. If you are a fan of the game’s original character designs then these figures are a must have. Hell if I wasn’t so broke after purchasing my PS3, I would probably buy Yuffie and Cloud and make them play house.

Koppa Remote Holder

So Furai No Shiren 3 has officially hit the shelves in Japan. Am I jealous? Yes. Do I want this Koppa wii-mote holder? Yes. Is life fair? In this blogger’s opinion almost certainly not.

If you have a Japanese Wii and want to try your hand at the game, you can buy it from Play-Asia.com here.
