Valkyria Chronicles 2: Promotional Movie

A very brief promo video for Valkyria Chronicles 2 has been released.  It doesn’t show much in terms of battles, but confirms my suspicion that cut-scenes will now be fully animated rather than in 3D.  However, the part of the video where a tank erupts from a brick wall shows the Valkyria Chronicles animation we’re all used to, so perhaps both forms of animation will be utilized.

You may have noticed if you look carefully at the game’s logo that there are a number of character silhouettes:

???

The extreme left character has me intrigued.  It almost looks like he’s carrying an enormous sword.  I don’t want to make anyone soil themselves, but could this suggest a new job-class?  By looking at this character’s weapon and clothes, I think it’s safe to assume they are not a Valkyrie or lancer which would explain the hefty weapon.  It’s probably too early to say anything for sure, but I expect tons of Internet cred if I am right!

Morale?

This tank has a lot of morale.  I wonder what that does…

???

The trailer ends with this unknown character whose face is hidden in a cloak.  I am just guessing based on the hair and eyes, but it looks like this may be the unknown Valkyria girl we keep seeing.  Again, more shots in the dark I can’t really substantiate but the video is only 14 seconds so I had to use my imagination.

Despite very few updates on the game’s official site, the video maintains that a Winter release is expected in Japan.  I will be watching this game like a vole-starved-owl, so look forward to more updates!
