Valkyria Chronicles 2: Two Unknown Infantry Units
The official Japanese site for Valkyria Chronicles 2: Galia Royal Military Academy updated today to include a section on infantry units. As you can see the scout, shocktrooper, and lancer are all making a return in the sequel. However, there are two unknown units which are grayed-out. I don’t recognize either their insignia or weaponry leading me to believe there are at least 2 entirely new infantry types.
Assuming these 5 unit types are the only ones available in the game, we can conclude that the sniper has been removed (which I kinda doubt) and the engineer has either been removed or changed to one of the above units — possibly the dude with the handgun. The unit to the far right appears to wield both an immense shield and some type of melee weapon that resembles a sledgehammer.
You may also notice that both visible units above are the same character: the game’s protagonist Avan. Does this mean that he is able to change jobclasses? That would be an exciting new possibility, but who would that leave at the helm of the player’s tank? Tanks have helms right?
I am glad that the game is incorporating some new units, but I really hope they did not get rid of the sniper. Maybe it’s possible to outfit scouts with a sniper scope? Please? Anyway, I expect my internet cred, as promised.
