I am munchlax apparently

A few weeks ago there was a Penny Arcade comic about finding out which Pokémon you are. I admit I was a bit curious to find out which one I am, but I assumed I would have to play the actual game to take the test. Well it turns out, in celebration of the second Mystery Dungeon title, Nintendo posted the personality test to find out which Pokémon you are.

After answering some simple questions you will be assigned an “aura color” and then from there, a Pokémon. Yea, I am Munchlax apparently, no argument here. I only took the test a few times, but there are 16 possible outcomes. Not a bad way to waste some time–just don’t expect to be Mewtwo. The only available Pokés are the starters from each game and a few cutesie normal types.

Oh no, Drowzee is on the loose! Why is this Piplup named Squirtle? The game looks pretty interesting for a title aimed at a younger audience. The player assumes the role of a Pokémon through the test I linked to. Being a Pokémon enables the player to understand Pokémon when they speak, allowing insight into their Poké-lives.From there you can recruit allies to do battle with. The allies vary between the two versions of the game: Explorers of Time, and Explorers of Darkness. There are also different missions to complete in the two versions as well, like hunting down different wanted Pokémon.

Mystery Dungeon has some Roguelike aspects such as randomly generated dungeons complete with randomly generated items and enemies. Since the game is for the Nintendo DS, there is a “rescue” option available (like in Shiren the Wanderer 2), which allows another player with the game and system to link up and save you form a tight spot.

If you played the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, you should know what to expect. The main difference is the addition of the new Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl bringing the total Pokémon the player can meet to a staggering 490. Also, the graphics have been given a nice overhaul.

On an unrelated note, this is officially my 100th post. Thanks for your support everyone!
